Faith

Elizabeth was admitted to the hospital last night so she can start Interim Maintenance today.  She will receive high doses of chemo for the next two months on a regular basis.  This marks an important milestone in her treatment because two years from today she will finish chemotherapy.

As we were sitting in the small hospital room together, Elizabeth started praying.  Her faith and love through these difficult times are a tender mercy from the Lord (Elder Bednar).

We are so grateful for such a beautiful light in our lives!

As we are preparing for this next phase in our lives, several quotes from conference talks have been on my mind lately.  Even though Elizabeth is three, I believe she understands and lives these principles (she often recites the verse in John 14:15, "If ye love me, keep my commandments")

"You need never be discouraged or afraid.  The way through difficulties has always been prepared for you."

"[People] accomplish marvelous things by trusting in the Lord and keeping His commandments—by exercising faith even when they don’t know how the Lord is shaping them."

Long day

We knew Wednesday was going to be a long day.  A 10:30am appointment at the HemOnc clinic followed by an appointment at the Infusion Center down the hall for a couple IV chemos were already on the schedule.  Then there were signs of low platelets starting a few days before.  Bruising, mouth sores, cracked and bleeding lips.  We were pretty sure a transfusion would be added to the schedule, and we were right.  Platelets were really low, and they did a transfusion that was almost twice as much as usual.

During all this we didn't get bored.  We watched lots of movies, talked to a doctor and lots of nurses, ate snacks, piled and spilled lots of movies around, got port accessed and then deaccessed, got Daddy to deliver pizza and breadsticks, fought taking a couple oral meds, finally took a nap after taking Benadryl, got a kitty band aide, picked a couple toys, and finally got home just after 8pm.  Not all in that order.
