A Courageous Girl

I wish everyone could see the courageous spirit that Elizabeth has.  I am not very eloquent with words, and even as I try to explain and record how amazing Elizabeth is as she goes though her fight against cancer, I cannot fully show you what I see.  But here is a little glimpse.

I see a very young girl that has to be poked at least once a week, something she fears greatly.  A girl that cannot join her friends in primary, or have many play dates.  A girl that has to wear a mask whenever she goes places.  A girl that has lost some hair, and sometimes gets sick from her treatments.

I also see a girl that is so full of life as she sings and dances, finding joy each day.  I see a girl that has her doctors, nurses, and a child life specialist (that all adore her) as her best friends.  I see a girl who loves to tell a few favorite jokes, and loves to laugh hysterically at them.  A girl that bounces back to her cheery self after going through something difficult.  A girl that loves to chat all the time, and keeps surprising people with her vocabulary and clarity.  And I see a girl of unquestioning faith and love.

As I go through my own trial of helping Elizabeth fight her Leukemia, I have learned so much from Elizabeth as I see how courageously she fights, and lives.  I love my Elizabeth!

Here is a video about courage that I love.

"We love Jesus"

This evening Elizabeth and I watched a few videos from the Mormon Channel.  While watching the one called Infinite Power of Hope, Elizabeth noticed the pictures of Jesus and exclaimed, "We love Jesus.  Jesus is in our hearts."

Mountains to Climb

Last Sunday during Sacrament meeting Angelle talked about "Earthly Angels" that have come to help us in our time of need.  This phrase stood out to me, and has resonated within me a profound sense of gratitude for both seen and unseen angels that have helped us through some of the brightest and the darkest hours of our lives.  In searching for some added comfort today, I found this very moving video and wanted to share it and to testify that I know that God lives, that He loves each of us, and that He has sent the Holy Ghost to teach, testify, and comfort us (John 14:15-18, 26-27).  Elizabeth often recites John 14:15 and what a beautiful section of the scriptures that is.

Family Movie Night

We watched "How to Train Your Dragon" and E love the "orange popcorn"! It was a fun movie night in the hospital as a family. I think this could be a great tradition for Friday nights!

Life is Good

Way to go Uncle Ian!

"26.2 in 3:16 Ran a marathon today dedicating it to my niece Elizabeth who is fighting leukemia. The shaved head made me faster....less resistance. It was hard but nothing compared to battling cancer. Go Miss E!"
